Planning a trip to the magical city of Marrakech, Morocco? Then you NEED to visit Riad Dar Zaman, a vegan-friendly Marrakech stay situated in the heart of the medina! (Sponsored)
๐ WHAT IS A RIAD?
When in Marrakech, you absolutely have to book a stay at a riad for local flavor. To the uninitiated, a riad is an ancient medina home, built around a central open-air courtyard, which now operates as a private guesthouse. Sure, there are Marrakech hotels and Airbnb’s to choose from, but if you want an authentic experience, a riad is the way to go.

Location: 29 Derb Bouelilou, Marrakesh 40000, Morocco
This four-bedroom riad is situated near the souksโon a quiet street tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the medina. The grounds are elegant and the vibe tranquil and intimate.
The staff epitomizes Moroccan hospitality. We are grateful to owner Peter, Hassan, Adel, and Chef Karima for making us feel right at home during our five-day visit. Upon check-in, manager Hassan will present you with a piping hot kettle of mint tea and a detailed map, arming you with essential tips for navigating the medina.
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, memory foam-topped mattresses, unlimited filtered water, and fiber-optic internet. The grounds are elegant, and the plunge pool is the perfect way to escape the North African sun.
We really enjoyed having to breakfast on the lush sun terrace. Wouldn’t you love to wake up to this view?

๐ฑ VEGAN FOOD OFFERINGS
Speaking of food, we ate at many, many vegan-friendly restaurants in Marrakech. (The city is extremely easy to find vegan food in!) But thanks to Chef Karima, the meals at Riad Dar Zaman’s were our favorite by far. We could not get enough of Chef Karima’s vegetable tagines, Moroccan salads, fresh bread, and vibrant breakfast spread. Her menu is thoughtfully crafted to include flavor-packed, protein rich, well rounded vegan options that are prepared to order. She quite literally shops for fresh produce and ingredients as orders are placed. Weโve traveled to 34 countriesโand hand to Godโher dishes rank among our top favorite eats around the globe!
[We also took a cooking class, available at the riad, with Chef Karima, where we learned how to make 7 Moroccan dishes! Stay tuned for a blog review of our experience.]
Do you love bed-and-breakfast situations as much as we do? Then you will adore the complimentary vegan-friendly breakfast when you stay at Riad Dar Zaman in Marrakech, Morocco. Not only is the breakfast a colorful feast for the eyes, it is nutrient and protein rich! Youโll also get to sample a range of local Moroccan breakfast favorites.
Included in the breakfast spread: Roasted beetroot hummus | Olive tapenade | Avocado topped with sesame seeds | Almond butter with jam | Moroccan bread (khobz) Moroccan semolina pancakes (beghrir) | Freshly squeezed orange juice | Coffee/tea. The staff was also kind enough to prepare taktouka (Moroccan tomato-and-bell pepper dish) for us ๐
Even if youโre staying at another riad or lodging, you can make reservations to dine at Riad Dar Zaman 24 hours in advance, as all meals are made to order. Breakfast is only 100 dirhams ($10) per person! As for lunch and dinner, vegan options are clearly labeled on the menu. Send them a message through their website or Instagram account to make reservations.
