AIR FRYER APPLE CHIPS

With just three ingredients, you can make our Air Fryer Apple Chips in minutes! They shatter between your teeth and are coated with a warming cinnamon-brown sugar mix.

Who doesn’t love simple, healthier snacks? We certainly do! These Air Fryer Apple Chips will satisfy your sweet tooth while being a better-for-your option. All you need is three ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen as we speak: apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar.

WHAT ARE APPLE CHIPS?

Apple chips are thinly sliced apples seasoned with cinnamon-sugar and baked or fried until crisp. Our air fryer version is quicker cooking than baked and healthier than fried.

INGREDIENTS

  • Apples: You can use any apple you want. Sweet varieties like honey crisp and tart varieties like granny smith will both work with this recipe. We use a combination of both, because we like the sweet-and-sour interplay.
  • Cinnamon: A warming spice that combines perfectly with our brown sugar topping.
  • Brown sugar: Brown sugar adds sweetness and lovely molasses flavor to our topping.

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST AIR FRIED APPLE CHIPS

  1. Thinly slice apples (about 1/16 inch) using  a mandolin or very sharp knife.

2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar with ground cinnamon.

3. In a large mixing bowl, place the sliced apples and toss them in the cinnamon-brown sugar mixture until evenly coated.

4. Arrange the apple slices in one layer in your air fryer basket. Some overlap is okay. Air fry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 minutes. Flip and flatten twice during cooking process.

RECIPES TIPS

  • A mandolin is the best tool for slicing the apples most uniformly. This will allow you to cook the apples at the same at the same rate. If you don’t have a mandolin, you can also use a very sharp knife.
  • Don’t slice the apples too thinly, because they will burn. Try to keep the slices at least 1/16 inch thick.
  • If some slices cooking more quickly than others, simply remove the quicker cooking ones first.
  • Your apple chips may not be fully crispy when done, but donโ€™t worry. They will crisp upon cooling.
  • Store your apple chips in an air-tight container. They will keep for one week, but are best enjoyed immediately!
